This note was removed from the NEWS file in Automake 1.13.2 and replaced
with a note that only depcomp support for automatic dependency tracking
was planned to be removed in Automake 2.0.

"Automake 2.0" never materialized (probably won't) and the depcomp
script today still has the code to handle SGI compilers (Sadly, I don't
currently have an SGI/IRIX setup in my collection to test this).

But even if it were removed automatic dependency tracking is not an
important feature: packages can still be built fine without it.
