If you assume that few people build these files, they should be distributed as well (so you don't need the tools to rebuild them), otherwise you require your users building from source to have the tools anyway, and you gain nothing. When the files are distributed, the "distcheck" should recognize that these belong in the source package, and not show an error. Simon
