I can't reproduce it with a simple test case either, but running "aclocal -I m4" in the coreutils-5.0 source directory does not include the file m4/search-libs.m4 in aclocal.m4. I have no idea why the coreutils macros behave differently. The output of the autom4te call inside aclocal in any case does not include AC_SEARCH_LIBS, although it is called by jm_FUNC_NANOSLEEP, which _is_ included. Trying to investigate...
