Hello,

When I run "make check" when installing automake-1.4,
it passes all 194 tests, except for the cond5.test.
How do I fix this?

I was running Slackware Linux 3.6 with a 2.0.35 kernel
under libc5, and I decided to upgrade to a 2.2.14
kernel and glibc-2.1.3. During the process, I
upgraded quite a few packages, in the following order:
binutils, make, automake, autoconf, texinfo, gettext,
gperf, bash, the kernel, gcc, then glibc. At the end
of the process, everything worked fine. I then
thought I should recompile all those packages with the
new glibc2 that I had just finished installing. I
recompiled binutils and make with glibc2, and they
seem to work fine. Now when I get to automake, it
suddenly comes up with this one error.

I am by no means a kernel hacker, and I don't fully
understand these packages. I am good at following
directions, however, and I have learned quite a bit
about the system through this whole ordeal. Glibc2
was the only package that gave me any trouble
installing, but I finally figured out what the problem
was by reading the FAQ and looking around in the lib
directories. I figured that recompiling all of these
packages after doing that should be a piece of cake.
Now I'm stumped as to this one error, and I can't
figure it out at all.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

        Chris Thompson
