automake -a was exactly what I was running and which caused
the warning.
What makes things even worse is that automake-1.4a (and its
m4 macro's probably) yields an incorrect configure script.
The generated configure script does not run on Linux and
netbsd. automake-1.4 in combination with exactly the same
version of libtool does not produce an incorrect configure
script.
Any ideas about what is going wrong?
Thank in advance,
