One more question: is there support for the VMS operating system ?

I think so. (never used it though)

Interesting. How do you run Bourne shell scripts on VMS, which has
a unique command language, all of its own?

Can't you compile a shell with the C compiler on this system?

There is a port (more/less...), but it's even more functionally limited than MinGw. Look for GNV (and keep in mind that it's aimed at running applications in a _subset_ of VMS ;-).
