Hello,
one idea just came to my mind:
for each AC_SUBSTed variable, Automake adds a line like
ZZZ_LIBS = @ZZZ_LIBS@
to each Makefile.in.
We should somehow take care of this, so that the produced Makefiles
are not incorrect.
I'm not sure how the solution should look like, though.
Perhaps we should ask at the Automake list.
