I see the name of this cache is currently
autom4te-2.53.cache
In other words, its name contains the autoconf version number.
Why not be less confusing, and use the autoconf name as well?

If autom4te were really "not in the shadow" of autoconf, surely
you'd use 1.01, or whatever the version number of autom4te was.
Since it doesn't have its own version number, clearly autom4te
is just a part of autoconf, and should hide as much as possible.
