And just imagine it was actually a shell function: you'd have to specify the quotes anyway. Imagine you want to pass a '-fixed string. Imagine you want to pass a ``-thing (yeah, I know, bad example since these guys don't nest well). All the macros should have the same behavior, and I prefer the one where quotes are needed.
