Hm, I don't recall whether I already said or not (I thought I did),
but there is a known bug in the AC_REQUIRE chain. There is a known
fix, provided by Axel Thimm months ago. I have not started refreshing
this patch yet, as it no longer applies at all.
I started working on it, but I don't have enough time and brain now.
