Your users will probably need to do more than just defining HAVE_LIB_OFMYOWN: they need to test that it exists, maybe even use a --with-ofmyown etc. So you probably want to write ofmyown.m4 which provides the right test, and in case of success does a AC_DEFINE(HAVE_LIB_OFMYOWN, 1, [Define if you wish to use `libofmyown'.]) then, since you used AC_DEFINE/3, your users won't have any acconfig.h problem (provided they use Autoconf >= 2.13).
