Yeah, sure :) The point of check-news is not to forget to update NEWS
when you release, so we need check-check-news so that I don't forget
to set check-news for the next release ;)
Seriously, AFAIC, what you mention is the point of README-alpha. If
you fell on this, it means you read NEWS. Why did you? To learn what
is new in 2.14a, so I think it makes sense to keep it as is.
