We may be talking of two different issues. I'm placing myself at the
level of the macro call, not at the level of configure's execution. I
do want to leave an `rm' after the user of the macro had the
possibility to check something about conftest from inside configure.
In fact, I don't care if she does or not, I don't care if it is
documented or not, it is just that I don't understand the point of so
much care.
If you want to check the various failures after configure was run, you
should browse config.log, that's its point.
