Then you are working with repository made by straight.el. If that is
identical to the proper AUCTeX repository, the documentations, namely
auctex.info and preview-latex.info, should already be in the doc/ sub
directory. Look into there. Do you find them?

As I wrote in my previous message, faq.texi is a sub file included from
another .texi file. It isn't intended to be processed by makeinfo
directly.

Therefore, it doesn't make sense to complain that
