Dont know what mani ratnam imagined and what briefing he gave to A R RAHMAN
for this song and in what spiritual trance A R RAHMAN was to come out with such
a tune and such a music. and what words of praise i should use for gulzar saheb
for his matchless lyrics and what to say about the soul stirring divine singing
by udit narayan , once i listened by udit himself in an interview " whether i
live or not my song 'AE AJNABI' will live forever and i am utmost thankful to
A R RAHMAN for that."
Ae ajnabi a song that comes once in a lifetime. lets go through that song a bit.
those alluring simple drums with mahalaxmi's scintillating delivery of word
paakhi paakhi pardesi, starts the fascination at once.
than comes the most soulful, the most emotionally intriguing, the most
captivating , shivers run through my body when udit starts the great mukhra or
pallavi , AE ajnabi tu bhi kabhi awaz de kahin se my goodness the lyrics are
just out of the world , the mood of the song a bit pessimistic with the tune,
the words, perfectly suiting it and the singing its just too good .
the interlude how should i praise it. those rhythmic strings and then that
sarangi O MY MY GOD, what was A R RAHMAN upto, the tune and the sound of
sarangi i cant take it shakes me completely.
both the antaras are mind blowing , cant describe their beauty , the words ,
the singing; just check out in the second antara how udit sings "nahi hai
lekinNnNnNn" and muskrahatein hainNnNnNnNn, those waves that he gives, those
oscillations my goodness gracious me , i cant express i dont have words to
amplify the magic that it creates.
and at the end when udit sings the mukhra again the violins in the background ,
the hints of sarangi O MAN too much , is this a work of a genius no way , a
superhuman no way , such a song can only be invented when you are in an utter
spiritual state with divine link somewhere.
A CLASSIC of all times , a true masterpiece , a soulful song of matchless
fascination and the feeling ......... can write an epic book on it.
music, composition, tune= 100/100
