I think this is a great idea too. It is extremely frustrating that a finished
product which is just a few mouse clicks way to be put on a CD goes into
oblivion for unjustified reasons. I can understand the songs getting edited out
in the movie to help the narrative but not their omission on the audio CD.

And this is not just limited to Raavan. There have been several instances in
the past too.

Look at the whole Connections episode where a bunch of masterpieces like Man
Chandre Nu and Mosquito can not be heard legally unless you buy a cell phone
that has by now become defunct. The soundtrack of Provoked went unreleased too.

I understand that it is not AR's sole responsibility to ensure that all his
music reaches our ears and there are several copyright issues that need to be
sorted but if any one person can make it happen it is AR.

In this age where music can be distributed digitally with minimum costs and
with an official web store already in place, a legal digital download process
is good start for his unreleased tracks and background scores.

I sincerely hope that this thread generates enough buzz to garner a critical
mass that is required for folks that matter to take notice.

Subject: [arr] Rahman should release his unreleased songs

Many times, AR's songs that are composed for a film are not put into the final
CD for various reasons. For us music lovers and AR fans, I recommend that AR
and his team put together a compilation CD of his unreleased songs under the KM
Musiq Label and all proceeds for this CD should go to a charity of ARR's
choice. Remember the Qawali from Jodha Akbar? Remember that song from Dil Se
everyone keeps mentioning? Now potentially 3 songs from Raavan, and probably
many more songs from previous albums.

Come on fans! Something like this should happen!!! I pray for this to happen,
and it would be for a good cause too!!!

By the way, this idea is not mine alone....a good friend of mine, who is also a
group member, helped with this idea.
