Producer and Director : Bharathi Raja Music : A R Rahman Lyrics: Vairamuthu Cast : Manoj, Riya Sen, Radhika and Revathy Pls Note: The revisit is too lengthy..my apologies for that..i couldnt make it short...coz my feelings for this album is infinitely large..!! The very name "Taj Mahal" evokes a lot of passion, romance and warmth! When films with such titles goes to the hands of someone like the Meastro A R Rahman, it gets all new definition and stands in its own glory and vigour! Like how the Emperor Shahjahan built the legendary monument for his lady love, ARR has built this glittering golden palace inside our hearts with his signature styled experimentations and mammoth innovations of new sounds which we never heard of before..! Bharathi Raja - A R Rahman duo may have given many timeless classics, but for me, Taj Mahal stands as tall as the Taj Mahal monument! Taj Mahal was originally planned to have a totally urbanite modern saga as its plot..but Bharathi Raja, with his proven rural, rustic themes, made a U turn and chose to make it as another village based story! He launched his own son Manoj in the lead role along with the very raw, young Riya Sen. Somehow the chemistry never worked between these two and the film's fate turned turtle at the box office..! Nevertheless, it could boast of possessing one of the world's best musicians magical scores..! Thiruppachhi Aruvaala | Palghat Sriram, Chandran, Clinton Cerejo, Kalpana Belonging to the league of Adrenalin pumping, high spirited, aggressive songs of ARR, "Thiruppachhi Aruvaala" ignites some of our deep buried anguishes. If you give a deep ear towards the instruments in the initial moments of the song, you feel shell shocked..! ARR dwells just with a basic beats rhythm coming out from that basic drums which you see in your everyday life on the streets in the hands of local help seekers! Giving company to these drum beats are the cool whistles blown by probably ARR himself! The singers ooze out aggressiveness in their full throated rendition. Palghat Sreeram is one of those able singers, whom this world should take notice of! He,along with Chandran, brings in the perfect attitude required for the song. Another unnoticed singer Kalpana haunts with her lower octaves lines, particularly in the lines where she makes fun of the male.Clinton Cerejo, provides able support in the second interlude with some wierd western lyrics!! ARR surprises us with some western vintage beats in the second interlude. Total Energy booster..!!! Adi Manja Kizhange | Febi Mani, Ganga Sitharasu, Feju, Kanchana Short and Sweet "All-Female" , fun filled song!! ARR has constantly belted out the all-woman songs since his "Kaadhalan" days (Indirayo Ival Sundariyo) to the latest "Gendha Phool". "Adi Manja Kizhange" offers some fun and happy moments both audically and visually! Again ARR goes with a single Rhythm pattern of basic drums with some vague female hummings interlaced. Hats off to all those aforementioned 4 harmony singers who have been with ARR since his Roja days..! It seems like ARR created such a song only to thank them for this long association. ! Kizhakke Nandavanam | Theni Kunjarammal, Febi Mani, Ganga Sitharasu, Feju,Kanchana The same harmony singers continue their spell, but this time in the company of the most unusually sounding singer in ARR's career of songs ever...Theni Kunjarammal. .!!! Everytime this old woman croons for ARR, the song gets its own undefined charm!! She starts the song by calling out the names of many women "Machhakanni, Mayyilkunju. .." which are absolutely hilarious to hear!!!ARR offers a very light hearted comic effect composition with some funny beats..! The awesome foursome singers then start their lines with same zeal and keep up the mood strong!! Never miss to hear the minute murmurings of Theni Kunjarammal..."Adi Vaadi Aathi..".:D Echi Elumichi 1 | Manoj, Rahib, Arundhati Echi Elumichi 2 | Krishnaraj, Rahib, Arundhati First Interlude VEENA | Parthasarathy Second Interlude FLUTE | Naveen "Welcome to The Alps, The Himalayas, The Savvanas and almost all scenic isolated hilly and scenic places of the world!!!". Those are exactly the exotic places that this awesome number carries our senses and imaginations on its strong shoulders! From where does this meastro acquire energy , so strong, to pull the entire world towards him??!!?.!! "Maayye Mayyee Ooo" by Rahib(Or is it Raqueeb??) and followed by the female chorus is one of the best chorus part of the song i have ever heard in Tamil songs!! Innovations and experimentations in the song speaks aloud and makes obvious to the listeners. The mind boggling "Veena" in the first interlude by Parthasarthy makes you gush with some bright laughter. ARR and Parthasarathy simply offers a naughty playful child in this portion. The second interlude is handed over to Naveen for his breath taking flute parts. There are two versions of the same song. One sung by Krishnaraj and another by the actor Manoj himself. How often does a debut actor gets a chance to croon for himself and for the world's most celebrated musician? Manoj is PLAIN LUCKY!!!! Though he sounds raw, it suits for the song. Arundhati also makes an impact with her hummings and line renditions. Scintillating Stuff!!! ARR sir, Plssssss produce more n more such anthems to us..! Sengaathiii | T K Kala PUNJABI Version : Rabba Ve | Richa Sharma Ever heard anywhere that a single song has two different languages sung by two different singers simultaneously in synchronization? ???Oh Yeah..may be in "Desert Rose" by Sting!! But in India??? "Sengaathhi" offers you this never before heard experience which you can cherish for your entire Lifetime...! !! For no simple reason, the phenomenon called A R RAHMAN is titled as a "Musical Storm"!!!Its only some of his illustrious works like this song prove to be the testimonials that he is coveted upon..! Now..lets go on straight to the song...! For any normal listener with a decently good player speaker effects, this song starts after the initial long chord as "Sengaathiiiiiii" by the rustic sounding T K Kala. But your NERVE CRACKS when you go much deeper and realize that there is something else happening in the background.. ! Listen to it very very carefully..there is yet another singer singing her own lyrics tracing the same tune in a very hushed up background.. ! YES..it is Richa Sharma for you, singing the Punjabi lines "RABBA VE" as soon as Kala finishes her first word Sengaathhi.. ! I curse myself for not knowing this awestricking wonder, much before...neverthele ss, i got goose pimples when i underwent this sizzling experience.. .!!!I was like complete numb after realizing this...!!! AR sir..I can fall flat to your feet just for this One song of yours..!!!!! The chorus portion haunts like hell..."Yaathe Yaathe...Uyir Thaangavillai Yaathe..." Kulirudhu Kulirudhu | Unni Krishnan, Swarnalatha Second Interlude-> IRANIAN SANTOOR | Visweswaran The moment you tune to this song, a section of strings gives you a warm welcome to a blissful melody which assures you 100% satisfaction and you already know that you will be treated royally..!! A silky - sultry Unni Krishnan begins his husky tone which can be rest assured that this song is made for himself..nobody else could do the justice..! The second time he croons "Kulirudhu.. ", its a audical magic that happen with a sudden pop-up of Swarnalatha' s vocals joining in ,and later to be left alone to do the honours along with the strings and flute..! Notice the lines "Oorgalil Thee Pidithhal Kadhalil Uravugal Pirivadillai. ..." which converges the vocals, strings and flute(by Navin)..now that's what you call as maestro's works..!! The first interlude string arrangements are out-of-the world and spectacular and the second interlude is the most inspiring part of the song..! Vishweshwaran takes you to yet another world with his out of the world Iranian Santoor piece and not to forget the Cello piece that follows!! This song alone can prove ARR's genius to the world! More such songs expected from him..! Its such a "Chillifying" effect to hear "Kulirudhu.. " ..u can feel that cools our senses just by hearing!! Karisal Tharasil | M G Sreekumar, Chitra HUMMING | Srinivas Innovations upon innovations. .! That's our Rahman! While Sengaathii had two singers singing in two different languages simultaneously, Karisal Tharasil offers you a medley of THREE songs interlaced upon each other into one package!! Legendary singer Chitra captivates our body and soul through her amazing voice texture and emotions especially her high pitch humming "Aaaa..aa.." when M G goes "Ae Machhakanniyae. ."..! M G Sreekumar makes us believe that he craves for his love, forgetting his little diction errors..! While the first part rules with Cello and voilins, the second part ("En Adivayatthil Dhaan") strives more on the bass rythm. And the most promising part comes as the third part which begins with a jet speed voilins and cellos. Its Srinivas who hums in the third part beginning and M G Sreekumar follows him with his lines.Chitra, yet again proves why she is the Best singer in this part of World..! Chotta Chotta Tajmahal | Male Version : Srinivas, Female Version : Sujatha Coming to the title track, ARR has split the song into two parts sung seperately by Sujatha and Srinivas. Though the song tune is same for both the versions, the charismatic composer gives a different feel and make them sound as different songs..! While Srinivas version has more folksy touch, Sujatha delivers a sugar sweet melodical version..! Whenever you switch over to this song, you never fail to match few steps to its pleasing beats!! I was a normal admirer of Sujatha's voice before this song, but this song made me turn crazy over her voice and i could not stop being an avid fan!! Sujatha simply ROCKS in this song!!! Thankfully, this song became a talk of the town..! Many people identify the film because of this song..!!! Srinivas too registers with his echos "Nee Enge..nee enge..nee enge.." towards the end of his version.!! To sum up, Taj Mahal's music sketches a most "Treasured Monument" in my heart..!!!! :) Your Mail works best with the New Yahoo Optimized IE8.
