Yeah, I'm confident that Rahman sampled Alphonse's vocals with the same melody in different octaves and layered them together, making it sound like multiple singers, but really the same voice and person. He did that with "Khwaja" to a larger extent, using multiple Rahmans layered together in the same octave!
