'America's Got Talent' Goes Desi Yet Again July 22 2009 11:30 PST By: Zaynah Rashid
All things Desi have come to the attention of westerners everywhere. This summer the trend seems to be embracing Bollywood dancing. The Oscar winning track "Jai Ho" composed by AR Rahman<http://www.desihits.com/celebs/view/ar+rahman>put Desi music on the map and now the moves that accompany it are all the rage. This season on 'America's Got Talent' <http://www.desihits.com/blog/article/signatures-final-performance>Desi dancers from around the nation have been auditioning. In fact it is not just Desi dancers, but the competitive dance teams from colleges have taken their talent and passion to the next level. Bhangra teams from Boston and VCU were just a couple of the Bhangra teams to perform. However, it was the Bollywood team Berkley Ishaara from California that got the judges' attention. The co-ed Bollywood team came dressed in bright green, red, and gold outfits with sequins and Desi accessories. The team performed to 'Jai Ho (You Are My Destiny)" and didn't hold back on choreography and stunts. The girls were lifted and twirled in the air and the team's energy and coordination stayed on point. With wins at competitions such as 'Jhoomti Shaam' and 'Phillyfest' the team can now add the success on 'America's Got Talent' onto their resume. Berkley Ishaara is headed to Vegas, do you think they have what it takes to go all the way? Check out the video below and let us know what you think. http://www.desihits.com/blog/article/americas-got-talent-goes-desi-20090722 -- regards, Vithur
