This piece of information may be surprising but it's true. The Oscar
Award-winning music director A.R. Rahman has reportedly taken a loan of rupees
3 crores from Canara Bank. If you wonder what could possibly have prompted the
music wizard to go for a bank loan, here is the backdrop to the news.
A team of officers from Canara Bank had called on Rahman to congratulate him on
winning the coveted Oscar Awards. In a lighter vein, Rahman is said to have
casually asked them whether they would be offering loan to 'persons like him'.
The officers were taken aback at the maestro's question and got down at once to
fill up the loan application form for Rahman. Within an hour, Rahman was
presented with a cheque of 3 crores rupees (as loan, of course!).
Rahman was amused by the developments and told them that he didn't literally
mean it when he 'commented' about whom would they be lending loans. The bank
officials, however, completed the formalities and granted the loan to the music
wizard.
