*Tamil everywhere, even at Oscars*

For the first time in the history of Oscars, someone spoke in Tamil while
delivering the acceptance speech. A.R. Rahman, while delivering his
acceptance speech uttered “Ella pugazhum Iraivanukke,” which became the
first Tamil words spoken at Oscars!

It was a proud moment for all Tamils; a moment that took all Tamils closer
to their goal “engum Tamizh, edhilum Tamizh” (Tamil everywhere).

Even A.R. Rahman, who is cool and composed all the time, could not help
yielding to the magnificence of Oscars. Though the music director tried
being calm, there was a faint quiver in his voice. Restraining all his
emotions on winning Cinema’s most coveted award, A.R. Rahman humbly accepted
his Oscars as a gift from God. He is truly a perfect example of humility.
And at the backstage, he confided that he was very nervous while climbing
the stairs to receive his Oscars.

Wait! There is another announcement on TV! *Slumdog Millionaire* wins the
best film award as we type this news!

Congratulations *Slumdog Millionaire* team and thank you A.R. Rahman for
putting Tamil and Chennai on the pedestal.
