I tag them like this

1. Artist: names of singers
2. Album artist: leave empty
3. Composer: A.R. Rahman
4. Genre: Pop or jazz or rock and so on
5. Name of the song: Name of the song

Though I am no music expert, I can somewhat understand the broad genres of
music so I try to classify the genre of each song. But as ARR uses a variety
of genres for any particular song, I try to classify whatever I can identify
for a song. That way a combo of genres become a genre in my library. No
practical use but more than once I have used this to shut up detractors.
Though I cannot identify ragas, with inputs from this group mails and other
websites, I have also listed the raga on which the song is based in the
"lyrics" field of the library. This helps my kids who learn classical music
to understand ARR's music better.

Subject: [arr] How do I correctly tag ARR mp3s?

Hi,

I want to know, how to tag ARR mp3s (in general, tagging MP3 in correct way)

What should I add for

1. Artist
2. Album artist
3. Composer
4. Genre
5. Name of the song.

In many places in US, artist is generally the main composer and singer. But
I generally add A. R. Rahman as artist for all my ARR mp3s.

Anil
