hey well nice question but there is one thing when it comes to music not just the accent of the singer is important .. its also the way one sings .. in tamil he has used singers like madhushree udit etc who are not tamilians but yet they sing cos they are really good singers .. 2nd reason is ppl like us .. ie one who listens to these songs .. they appreciate the song and we enjoy .. so in a way wwe allow the singer to grow .. so when Rahman gets a project and he feels Madhushree's , udits or any other singer s style and voice would fit and they culd do justice he goes ahead with them or may be we never knoe whe may have asked some one else to sing and may not have been satisfied and only found it when these singers deliverd .. in hindi yes he can experiment .. and he has asked so many south based singers like SPB sir, Chitra etc to sing but if he has tried any singer who sings ';regatha hai for rehta hai hindi audience ll never encourgae like we do in tamil nadu where any slang of tamil is ok cos its not in Rahman songs we see that style even in others we see udit singing ,m shreya singing ..
