Don't know about the rest of the soundtrack yet, but whatever I've heard from Guzarish, this song has the making to be a massive hit unlike any we've seen this year or recent times. It's got a mesmerizing tone, groovy, addictive rhythms, and very hummable and catchy melody with hooks. Has this trance genre in there that makes the song very addictive. In short, a song with both class and mass appeal. With Aamir's reputation, promotion, hype, etc. etc., if the rest of the soundtrack will be anything like this first song, Rahman is going to end 2008 with one of the loudest bangs we have heard in recent times, esp. if the movie scores.
Nonwithstanding, music critics and Rahman fans will dissect this album to no end, finding fault here, comparing this to the Tamil Ghajini and saying this is better or worse than that, making the same old accusations of Rahman being repetitive, losing it, nothing new or pathbreaking, etc. etc. Happens with every Rahman release, so we have to expect this. Honestly, I enjoy healthy discussion and analysis of music, but sometimes think that many are way too critical of Rahman's music and expect way too much, almost like everyone has a fantasy album in mind and if Rahman hasn't read your mind and delivered your very own unique set of expectations, the album is a loss.
