Singer Unni Menon on A.R.Rahman In a Tamil Channel, Unni menon participated as chief guest and sang many songs. In between he spoke about Rahman.
Unni : The song which gave me a great turning point is undoubtedly Pudhu Vellai mazhai from Roja. When I was singing songs some 20 years before, I saw a little boy named Dileep Kumar then. Now he is A.R.Rahman, the great composer. Oneday I received a call from Rahman in the evening. He said me that he is going to compose a movie and he wanted me to sing a song. I thought that I may to sing in ads or a short movie for him because Rahman is not much popular then. I started and reached there. There I saw Rahman along with Manirathnam Sir and Vairamuthu Sir. I thought that I am going to sing in a big banner. Rahman gave me the notes and we started recording around 1AM midnight. I did not feel any special during recording. But the composing was really really too good. Once the songs are launched, I felt a good quality in the song with good music which was digitally recorded. We feel something great when the song starts. Good music. Really Rahman is a great composer. We both performed few more songs together which were a very big hit.
