Guru: A Review!!!<http://www.downtownstreetsteam.com/2008/09/guru-review.html>
http://www.downtownstreetsteam.com/2008/09/guru-review.html First Mani Sir pumped fresh air to already-sinking Bollywood career of Abhishek Bacchan and now he has given him the role of the lifetime in such a crucial stage of his career. GURU without doubt is Abhishek's Flick with all the tricks-n-traits of Maniratnam. Wat follows below is the point-by-point review of all the aspects of the movie without disclosing too much abt the basic plot. MUSIC : Starting with the biggest let-down of the movie...its music. U won't expect this from A.R. Rehman and Mani's combo. Even their last joint venture YUVA was not able to create waves and GURU has few more tracks that will lose into the oblivion very soon. Few songs that sound reasonably gud in the movie is Barso Re, Tere Bina and Mayya Mayya. Others' slows down the pace of the movie considerably. Guru Bhai aa gaye che used as a Background score thru-out the movie is gud one and goes well with the story. PERFORMANCES : Mithun Da is the surprise package of the movie. After watching such kinda power-packed performances, I wonder wat the hell he does in those C and D Grade flicks shaking his old-boots with one-film-wonders' actresses. Its really shame for our film-makers too that they r not able to create roles for him to showcase his talent when he has that much varieties in his repertoire.Madhavan is able to make his presence felt in his small but meaty role. Vidya Balan again comes triumphs. It seems she gets Thumps Up in watever she does on-screen. It remains to see how she'll don the Glamourous avtaar in Salaam-e-Ishq. Aishwarya Rai looks gud in patches. Saying that, I must admit that she has got a simple House-wife role which has nothing to offer really. Within her (and her role's) limitation she has done justice to the same. But without any doubt the ACE in the Pack is none other than junior Bacchan. Its best role portrayal by him till date.He carried the grey-shades in his character with panache and the innocence of an exuberant wanna-be Businessman with elan. -- regards, Vithur ARR in my Heart; His Music in my Blood;
