Bollywood premieres aren't complete now unless they also go to Hollywood.
Mani Ratnam's Guru was the first Indian mainstream movie to have a world
premiere in Canada. To do the honours, Toronto's mayor David Miller invited
Abhishek Bachchan to Canada, along with the cast of the film. Guru also had
another first – it was the first Indian film to be distributed by a Canadian
distributor, Roger Nair Productions. Om Shanti Om was the first Indian movie

Leicester Square in London. At the time, Shah Rukh Khan had said that
this would make the world more familiar with Indian cinema. "It's a
beginning. Every new film helps us to mount the steps," he said at the
premiere. Life in a... Metro was the first Indian film to have a world
premiere in three continents. Siddharth Roy Kapur, EVP, marketing,
distribution and syndication, UTV, had said, "We plan to take the film
across the globe as it's a story of people living in a metro - they could be
anywhere in the world." The movie premiered in Dubai, Melbourne, London,
apart from Mumbai.
