The songs were huge, but the film did average business. 06 Kandukonden Kandukonden It was amarriage between Bollywood heroines and Kollywood. The film hadAishwarya Rai, Tabu, Ajith and Mammooty. It was directed by Rajiv Menonand the songs were outstanding. 07 Zubeidaa Directedby Shyam Benegal, this film yielded actress Karishma Kapoor's bestperformance to date. It was soon forgotten by audiences, but the songscontinue to mesmerise. 08 Lagaan Theonly Indian film to be nominated for a Best Foreign Film Oscar inrecent memory. Lyricist Javed Akhtar and Rahman gave it their best. 09 Rang De Basanti Onlya genius like Rahman, coming from Chennai, can make singer DalerMehendi sound the way he did in Rang De Basanti. A slow track from LataMangeshkar, Lukka Chuppi Bahut Hui, was also soothing. 10 Guru InNovember 2006, when Aishwarya did Umrao Jaan with Abhishek Bachchan,there was no obvious chemistry between them.
