Nice thread here. Will add my two cents. Actually the music label companies should negotiate with each other to be sensible business-wise. They are eating into each other's pie here. Unknowingly, somewhere this kind of thing also supports piracy I guess.
I think that the cost of the music CDs should be reduced to Rs. 50/- or thereabouts. This way the dependable youth can buy three music CDs for the cost of one and also have the satisfaction of having the original (ADA costed Rs. 160/- if I remember right). This results in a low-margin (the margin would still be around 50% though [not considering distribution costs]) high-volume game for the music owners without having to compromise on the release dates and also avoid piracy. Thus it would be two birds with one arrow to quote a cliche! :) Love, Adi.
