It's actually a triple treat - Best Composer, Best Background
Score and the Outstanding Achievement award.

In fact, this is the second year in succession that IIFA has conferred 3 awards
on ARR -

Best Background Score - Rang De Basanti (Hindi, 2007) Best Song
Recording - Rang De Basanti (Hindi, 2007) [Shared with KJ Singh and H Sridhar]
Best Composer - Rang De Basanti (Hindi, 2007)

Best Background Score - Guru (Hindi, 2008) Best Composer - Guru (Hindi,
2008) Outstanding Achievement by an Indian in International Cinema - 2008

However, the merit of the Best Song Recording Award remains in question since
ARR was not officially credited for any song recording for RDB

Earlier IIFA honored AR Rahman as "Outstanding Indian Contributing to
International Cinema"...Now, it's a double treat with the Best Music Director
award for Guru as well...Also good to see a couple of awards for Guru apart
from this...
