I found the same for this song and also for 'do kadam' from Meenaxi. May be
deep down in ARR's subconsious ARR and Mohd Rafi connect I don't expect ARR
to ask Sonu to sing in Rafi's style. It is also possible that Sonu who is/was
heavily influenced by Mohd Rafi (considered to be his clone) may subconsiously
be thinking of Mohd Rafi whilst singing these songs! Who knows? We can wonder
though.
For the next question about the combination of ARR and Mohd Rafi ... well
without doubt it would have been the best thing ever for bollywood soundtracks
composed by ARR and sung by Mohd Rafi. but alas.....

Everytime I listen Sonu reciting these lines, it reminds me so much of the
great Rafi saheb...
I sometimes try to imagine... what wonders a r r would have created with the
power of Rafi jee's voice...
