Let me take this opportunity to assist fellow rahamniacs.. As usual, this is my sincere attempt.
*Translation * The first thing that you notice when you see Rahman is his simplicity. he will start conversing as a College friend. ARR starts saying pointing his finger at the Keyboard and Mixer, used for Roja. As a matter of remembrance, I have kept it there . ARR never forgets his past. *Q :-* In an INterview to Kalignar TV, Director S.J. Surya says " ARR is Embodiment of Humility & Simplicity". How is that You are abkle to live without any EGO ? *Answer :-* It doesn;t come with purposeful planning. Whosover comes into the Spiritual Path, his ego gets annihilated. why do Hindus smear white paste on their foreheads ?. To reinstate the fact that we all are going to mud one day or the other . Money, Fame all exist so long as there is life in the body. So long as one has the thought that anytime death is certain, jealousy and spoiling other's life and succeding will all vanish and qualities like fear, humility will start enveloping . *Q :-* You are talking in a highly spiritual mode ?? *Ans :-* Life has taught me a lot ( Laughingly ). Once when I went to Gulbarga, I bought a book titled " EC Agamadheeya Dheen " . The book is about what this world has taught us right from the beginning. It was easy to read with a summation in the form of small poems and transcripts. At the same time, it was very interesting to read. At the end, I felt like Life is only this much. Whosoever reads that book, will develop a balanced mind. *Q :-* You are busy with Kollywood, Bollywood and Hollywood . Have you got some time to spare for family ?? *Ans :-* yes. I am finding it very tough. At times, I have to miss my family for two to three months at a stretch. At times, I videoconference and be in touch with my family. My children are not interested even at articles which are worth rs. 15,000 /- or so. They want their father to be with them always. Hug them and embrace them with his love . That would be their only demand. Recently, my second girl called me for their school function. But I was supposed to go abroad for a function. Then she said " You do not want to come with me. But I should listen to your music ???.. I will not listen to your music then". I felt as if somebody slapped me in my face. Then, I postponed my trip by two days, and attended her school function, and she also felt happy. *Q :* There are accusations that you have not finished recordings for CHAKKARAKATTI, because of which the release is getting delayed ?? *Ans :-* ( Smilingly ) " So they have started a bit like that ... except for one song, all other recordings are finished. When Director Kala Prabhu came and approached me telling that You alone should compose music for this film . I told him then and there , that it would not be possible for me to do immediately, and it would take some time. for that the Director replied " No problem. even if it takes 10 years . I will wait ". Then ARR smilingl says " Nobody will delay 10 years, and hence thought they are different people and took up the project. *Q :-* At the function of felicitating your Guru T.V. Gopalakrishnan, you came and went off immediately ?? *Ans :-* " he never knew that I am coming. Just to give him a surprise I went there . Upon seeing me, TVG got excited. I had to leave as there was a recording of a Violin Section for a Hindi Film. even TVG knew about it". *Q :-* Whats the problem between you and SRK ?. Why did you not accept Om Shanti Om ?. There is no personal problem between us . I could not do music for that film because of some problems in the contract. They told that they would be using a bit of my music from that film for another Hollywood film, and would just credit my name and not pay me for that. if they do this, it will not only harm me, but all Music Directors in the Industry in future . So I decided not to accept that because of the rise in technology, we never know from where which piece will be lifted. Suppose, if we write and give everything in writing, anything can happen in future . It should not be like our eyes are tied, and we are left in a thick forest. There are so many Music Directors, who give their life for giving good music, and who still stay in rented houses. Though their music gets broadcasted in Radios, TV Shows, yet they do not get the due credit . This is very unfortunate. In foreign countries, if a song or music becomes hit, the Music Director gets settled for his entire future life *Q :-* Ilayaraja has given a lot of hits. But when compared to today's Music Directors, he has not earned that much .. ?? *Ans :-* " Yes. Suppose we take that he has done Music for 500 films. On an average say 6 songs per film, then he would have done 3000 songs till date . But it is a big doubt if he has got money for all that . if he would have received, then he could have easily bought the entire TAMIL NADU. we are all very sad. I want to be careful from now on. Past is past. It is a tough thing. In foreign countries, though all songs are available in the internet, they deposit money in the account. But here, how much ever a song becomes a hit, they say it has gone for only Rs. 5,000 /- *Q :-* whats your opinion on Remix Trend ?? *Ans :-* Nothing wrong on doign remix. Its a trend. It will exist so long as people feel its fresh. After that it will vanish and die a natural death. There are good remixes, and bad remixes also. It should not spoil the old version of the song, and should not spoil it thoroughly... *Q :-* Recently, S.P. Balasubramanian in a stage show had said " Nowadays Music Directors are eating the leftovers of whatever M.S.Vishwanathan has ate". whats your opinion ?? *Ans :-* why not take what SPB has said as a praise. SPB would have told in a good intent. MSV is a legend. And SPB would have meant " follow MSV". That would have been the truth. May be out of his excitement for MSV, he would have used such words. I am sure SPB would never use any harsh words on anybody.
