maestro A.R. Rahman is on a roll. After being signed up for two prestigious
projects, the Rajnikanth starrer Robot and Kamal Hassan starrer Marmayogi, the
‘Isai Puyal’ has now bagged two Star Screen Awards for his superlative score in
Mani Ratnam’s Guru. Amidst stiff competition from Bollywood biggies like Taare
Zameen Par, Om Shanti Om and Chak De India which had star clout going for them,
Rahman has proved that he is the emperor of them all by winning both the awards
given under the music category.
Rahman bagged the ‘Best Music Director’ and ‘Best Background Score’ awards
for Guru. A biopic loosely based on the life of business moghul Dhirubai
Ambani, Guru was the only successful film in the first half of 2007. The film
was lapped up by both critics and audiences alike and went on to become a
superhit.
Recently, the song ‘Tere Bina’ from Guru was voted the ‘Song of the Year’ by
CNN-IBN.
With insiders heaping praises on his music for Oscar-nominated director
Ashutosh Gowariker’s Jodhaa Akbar, whose music was released two days back, it
looks like Rahman is in for more and more awards.
