Taj Mahal, which has long been considered one of the 'Seven wonders
of the world' may lose this distinction soon. The list of the seven
wonders is being updated and the Taj needs 30 crore votes to retain
its title as one of the seven wonders. The results would be out on
07.07.07 (July 07, 2007).

The Bhaskar Group's I Media Corporation Limited (IMCL), which has
launched the 'Vote for Taj' campaign to make the country aware on
what needs to be done to ensure the Taj remains one of the seven
wonders, feels that the competition is cut throat. As part of the
campaign, A. R. Rahman has composed a song which is currently on air.

Bharat Kapadia, Chairman, IMCL says, "In a diverse country like
India, the monument is an undisputed favourite. But what is it about
the Taj that is so fantastic and what significance does it hold in
our lives? You can do your bit by voting on www.indiainfo.com or
smsing 'taj' to 4567 from your mobile."

Perhaps it is the construction of the 15th century monument that
makes it so magnificent. Bhavana Puljal, an copy righter with an
leading advertising agency, who went to see the monument recently
feels its grace lies in the fact that it has been built over a short
span of time as compared to other famous monuments and churches in
the West.

Sheetal Saboo, another copy righter, too feels that the Taj Mahal
deserves to be one amongst the seven wonders for the way it has been
constructed. "The Taj is a wonder since technology wasn't as
advanced as it is these days. And I don't think any such monument
can be built ever again," she says.

Kapadia adds that the Taj represents our heritage and that if you
ask any foreigner about India, the first thing he/she will think of
is the Taj Mahal. "Retaining the title of one of the seven wonders
is a matter of pride for us and is good for tourism also." he says.

Trusting in God never makes the mountain smaller, it just makes the climbing
easier. I never ask Him for the lighter load, but only for the stronger
