AVM productions formally launched the much awaited audio of Shivaji today at a low-key affair in their campus. There were no glittering stars, stage full of VIPs, jostling photographers & stage-artists or comperes lavishing praises about the movie. The buzz is that Rajinikanth, the hero of the movie, insisted that the function be a quiet and unpublic one. The bitter experience that his wife Latha had with the press at the audio launch of Chandramukhi at Connimara Hotel in 2005 forced him to cancel any such functions for his films. The pooja was also performed in a simple manner. No pressmen were invited for the pooja. The PRO later released photographs of the puja ceremony to all publications after the shooting for the film had started. The audio CD and the movie stills were also given out in a similar manner today, to all publishers. Before the formal launch, AVM Music had sent the CDs and cassettes to all the distributors by yesterday evening . Starting today itself, there were huge crowds at the music stores who had come to purchase the original CDs and cassettes of Shivaji. At some places, the ardent Rajini fans made necessary arrangements to play songs from the film on loudspeakers. The audio sellers witnessed the brisk sale of Shivaji audio CDs and cassettes. Every song in the film has become an overwhelming hit. The manager of 'Music World' told us that 3100 CDs were sold within 4 hours of their appearing on the shelves at their Spencer Plaza outlet alone! The movie itself has generated a lot of curiosityand the Rajinikanth fans and the entire Tamil film industry are eagerly awaiting its release. Valee, Vairamuthu, Pa Vijay and Na Muthukumar have penned the lyrics and the music has been rendered by A.R. Rahman. S.P.Balasubramaniam, Hariharan, Udit Narayan, Vijay Yesudas, Suresh Peters, Madhusree, Thanvi, Chinmayee, Sainora and Gomathysree. The CDs are priced at Rs 100 and the audio cassette at Rs 45. As an introductory offer, a 3D sticker featuring Rajinikanth is being given free of cost alongwith every CD purchased.
