I agree, Das needs no recommendation. Even at 68, it's his name on cassettes that still more music in Kerala. And at 68, he really doesn't need to bother about chances. He gets endorsement contracts equaling that of most stars. Vijay Yesudas belongs to the camp of YSR and seems to be getting good songs. As far as the so called rift, it may have been the imagination of some fans of ARR. Certainly, Yesudas had expressed his displeasure at Vande Mantaram's new format, but ARR is not so narrow-minded that he would take offence to opinion.
Das has been an icon in Kerala for more than 40 years. That's the number of years ARR has been alive. It's inappropriate to drag him into this kind of cheap talk. This award has been presented to the likes of Asha Bhonsle to Sonu Nigam. There is no gimmick behind it, safe the opinion of the committee on board that chooses the singer. Pls do consider the status of the icon you speak of before spilling words.
