The venue is MGR film city. As one enters the sets of V. Creations's `Chakarakatti,' there is a small bridge in green background. The floor is white and the hero Santanu Bhagyaraj and heroine Ishita are clad in black clothes. A little odd, one thought as the costume didn't seem to synchronise with the ambience. I. Andrew cranks the shot and the team adjourns for lunch. During the break, director Kalaa Prabhu explains that none of the background will appear in the film. Why then bother with the shoot?
"Basically it is a fantasy song and the artists are made to dance to the steps of master Shobhi. The green that you see here will be replaced by graphics," elaborates Kalaa Prabhu. Kalaa, incidentally, is his mother's name. ``We are going to shoot the second BGM (Back Ground Music) with many junior artists and the scene is going to be enchanting with with all these people dancing behind the lead pair. The art director Jackshan has worked wonders in this film," he adds. Santanu Bhagyaraj is quite confident although now and then he has an attack of the nerves. "The story as told by director Kalaa Prabu appealed to me, mainly because of the powerful storyline and the way the director has done the screenplay. Two heroines are there in the film and I like not only my character but also the other important characters, each of which has been beautifully chiselled by the director. I'm doing according to the director's instructions but feel nervous some times," he says. Parents' footsteps He is happy to follow in the footsteps of his parents. "Father does not come to the set while mother has come to the location but not inside the set. She would spend some time with me in the room or van and would leave. So I am having a whale of a time with my two heroines." So what's the story all about? Love story, of course but not one of the routine ones, according to Kalaa Prabhu. "There is glamour but no sex. This film will not make viewers squirm in their seats," he says. "Both Ishita and Vedika are from Mumbai. Ishita has acted in two Hindi films while Vedika has worked in the film `Madarasi' starring Arjun. They have done a good job." A.R.Rahman scores the music while the story, screenplay, dialogue and direction are by Kalaa Prabhu. Thanu, father of director Prabhu, is the producer. http://www.hindu.com/fr/2007/01/26/stories/2007012600180400.htm
