hi Vish & Gomez   u both kidding btween urselves.  "Journey home" song from BD is purely in ShankaraabaraNHam Raaga in Carnatic Scale & in Hindustani Scale better consult Swaps. (As in Hin'tani scale my doubt is whether Thodi or Pahaadi etc.)   Swaps where r u, as we need more clarification. And   you cannot compose a tune without any raaga base. when u put on the fingers in Keys, it automatically gives sounds according to notes. Seven complete notes (Sampoorna Sur or Swar or Swaram) are common to all in this world whether its for indians or westerners. How we use it and present the style identifies ones talent, skills, its region, tradition etc. It is not just to me but many feel as Indian music & Indian melodies are powerful in the world, when compared to music of other countries. As per to learning & practice
