World Cup fever catches on
Film on football is set for a kick-off
After
Shimit Amin's film on women hockey for Yashraj Films, Ahmed Khan has
announced a film set against the backdrop of football.
Khan,
himself a football fan, plans to start shooting the film in June this
year. The film has been called Yahaan Ke Hum Sikander. He harbours
ambitious plans for it, and plans to consult Indian football star
Baichung Bhutia before launching the project. "Baichung will be helping
us in the project. We are also planning to bring a top international
player over, for the mahurat shot. The film will be shot in India and
abroad," says Khan.
"I was planning to make a film on football
since the last World Cup four years ago," he says. "However things have
been finalised now. Beginning the film in June will be just perfect,
since the World Cup too begins then, on June 9. The hype surrounding
football is fast gaining momentum and I hope the film succeeds on that
grounds."
Khan has finalised his cast, but refuses to divulge
too many details. "I have spoken to eleven heroes for my football team,
but I can't give you more details as certain date issues which still
need to be sorted out. However, Nana Patekar plays the coach of the
team and the three girls I have finalised are Sneha Ullal, Rimii Sen
and Ayesha Takia."
The film, according to Khan, revolves around
a football team and the experiences they go through while playing a
match against the England team. "A R Rahman is composing the music for
the film. I loved Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikander. That is why I titled my film
Yahah Ke Hum Sikander," says Khan.
"Baichung will be helping us in the project. We are also planning to bring a top international player over, for the mahurat"
