That was awesome. Thanks so much for the link (nevermind it's late :) If I had to change one thing the radio host said it would be why Boss is called the Asian Mozart. He says it is because the "sheer volume of music" that he has written, which is comparable to that of Mozart.
That is a very shallow observation about Rahman, and I can understand it because they are possibly getting their first taste of his music, and we've been rocking his songs for over a decade...man, we grew up with the man's music and his ideas. But, simply put, ARR is a modern day renaissance man (just like Mozart was in the European Neo-classical era of the late 18th century) who follows the classical Indian, Greek and Roman ideals of art, which encourages emotional and intellectual balance to bring out perfection of form. There's a brilliant sense of control about his songs (although we go crazy listening to it..lol), a definiteness of structure which is almost mathematical (just like that of Leonardo da vinci), which is the hall mark of somebody who truly understands the classical idea of perfection. They talk about the Mozart effect, which is the intellecual growth young students experience when exposed to Mozart's music. I'm sure if a similar study is done on ARR's music on young listeners, they would very likely find the same effects. I strongly believe that my emotional and intellectual growth has a lot to do with growing up with the Boss and his music! :) Hail ARR!
