welcome to the group. ARR-Rajni combo is
something which every tamil speaking person simply lap up and if you don't speak
tamil it may not really appeal to you in the first listen because the music is
made keeping in view Rajni's image more than anything. But that is where our
boss comes out top, satisfy Rajni fans and also give great music. Rajni is a
kind of hero who is popular among all classes of people in Tamil Nadu and you
can't expect him to emote like Kamal or any other great actor so the music has
to fit his image. Here ARR comes tops. So listen to Muthu, Baba and Padayappa
again with Rajni's image in mind and you will start liking it. My personal
favourites are Muthu's into song and all songs of Padayappa, especially Oho
kicku yerudhe. Man, amazing dancing by Rajni and KSR and amazing lyrics. rminds
of tap dance numbers from Hollywood movies.

Subject: [arr] Re: Shankar ropes in A R
Rahman for Sivaji
hi guys and gals out there, ive a new member of the group
and as i've been going thru the postings about ARR composing for rajini
are chart toppers, muthu, padayappa and baba... as ive heard them all in
malaysia, it really reminded me of the ARRs worst songs poll... not
sounding mean or anything, but i feel that rajini and ARR dont make a
good combo by default, and thus the songs turn out the way they r. As
ive read in one of ARR's interview, Muthu songs we created in a rush
and they r just average, hummable yes but not very memorable. As for
padayappa only the classical piece minsara kanna is catchy the rest
just ok, and Baba, one track inspired from punjabi music, and the rest
nothing of the ARR style. Therefore i wouldnt be eargerly waiting for this
new ARR-rajini combo.
All said, compared to these movies, i'd rather
listen to songs from Sangamam and and Indira, with the classical yet
contemporary pieces being so mindblowing!!
