They said that Shankar cannot create good music without A.R.Rahman! But two weeks after the release, Anniyan audio is topping the charts and is on everybody's lips. Arguably it is the Andankaka number which has emerged the dark horse among the five songs in the album. These days in shopping malls, trains and buses everybody is singing only Randakka . Randakka
The purist and classical music lovers are crazy about Iyengaru Veetu Azhage while kids and youth are dancing to the tune of Kannum Kannum and Kathal Yanai.. the peppy numbers. And theatre sources say that the repeat audience come just for O Saka Anniya the background score played when Anniyan appears on screen. The audio of Anniyan is selling like hot cakes beating all records. Says Harris Jayaraj: "From the beginning itself Shankar was insistent that the music of Anniyan had to be different as the film was a mix of genres like action, comedy, romance and a thriller." Harris adds that it was a tough job as he worked very hard and adds: "One moment I felt that I was doing music for a film like Brave Heart, next moment it was like Matrix and suddenly a Sankarabharanam flavour would slip in". Harris is all praise for Shankar and his style and passion for work. He says: "When the audio opened to lukewarm reception, I was cool and confident that the music will grow on the listener and would be appreciated after the release of the film".
