CHENNAI: An extravaganza that has a recreated version of the ship from Atho Antha Paravai and the train from Thaiyya thaiyya is coming your way in August this year.

Directed by Mani Ratnam, Netru Indru Naalai is a celebration of Tamil film music over the years. Vijay TV would be presenting this show in association with Banyan, which provides support for mentally challenged women, to enable the latters expansion plans.

Calling it a special show for a special cause for special people, Mani Ratnam announced the date of the programme as mid-August at a press conference held on the Banyan premises on Monday.

Vandana Gopikumar, founder-member of Banyan, recalled the role charity shows played in helping Banyan expand and hoped that the proceeds from the show would help Banyan get to more mentally challenged women in the city and in rural areas.

AR Rahman, who would be composing and performing a special song for the event, and director Vasanth reiterated their best wishes for Banyan.

Mani Ratnam described the show as a Broadway-like musical that will recreate the magic of all the songs that we have grown up with. The show, with art direction by Sabu Cyril and lighting by Rajiv Menon, would showcase the transitions in cinema projection.

Actors like Kamal Hassan and Vikram would don the roles of Shivaji Ganesan and Rajinikanth. Other stars to watch out for are Abhishek Bachchan, Madhavan, Srikanth, Vivek, Silambarasan, Bharath and Arya.
