I aggree with Owen's view on this matter. There is nothing special about the specific set of numbers, just the right to use a set of number for a given prupose.
There is no shortage of these types of numbers. I think our community rejected the arguement that somone couldn't make an ASN larger than 65535 work. That being said we should provide some flexibility in helping people transition between the old and new numbers.
