Free July/August Webinars for RDA Community Announced
Registration is now open for two free webinars to be held this July and August
respectively. Led by ALA Digital Reference Director James Hennelly, the first
free webinar is a new one-hour RDA Toolkit Demo that covers RDA Toolkit
releases and updates introduced since the last demo was presented in January.
It will be presented live on July 16, 2021 beginning at 11 AM CDT (5 PM London
time, 6 PM Cairo time) and recorded for those who are unable to participate
live. Although there will be a live Q&A at the webinar's end, we encourage
e-mailing questions to rrobin...@ala.org [ mailto:rrobin...@ala.org ] in
advance. Register for the July webinar here. [

Our second free webinar, Incorporating the Revised RDA in an LIS Cataloging
Course, will be presented live for 75 minutes (inclusive of a short Q&A) on
Wednesday, August 4, 2021 beginning at 11 AM CDT. In Winter 2021, the
presenters of this webinar - May Chan and Elisa Sze of the University of
Toronto Libraries - taught RDA following the completion of the 3R Project, as
part of the cataloguing course offered within the Master of Information program
at the University of Toronto. This presentation will cover the context,
planning, and deliverables involved in teaching the revised RDA to a class of
novice cataloguers. The presenters, who are both sessional instructors and
practitioners, will share their reflections on factors that improve the
learning of the revised RDA, pedagogical approaches that worked, and ones that
did not work. Register for the August webinar here. [

Do you know other RDA community users who don't subscribe to RDA Toolkit? If
so, you're encouraged to share the webinar registration links with them; both
webinars are open to the public, and neither requires an RDA Toolkit
subscription for participation.

RDA Toolkit Server Change
By September 1st, RDA Toolkit will migrate servers. This change should have
little to no impact on most subscriptions. However, some subscribers may
encounter login difficulties as a part of the transition, and options for
editing existing workflows and creating new workflows on the original RDA
Toolkit will no longer be available. Read our June 1st blog article [
https://www.rdatoolkit.org/node/247 ] to learn more about this imminent change.
