Applications Invited for the Summer 2020 Career and Technical Education
Research Training Institute

The Career and Technical Education (CTE) Research Network
<https://cteresearchnetwork.org/> , supported by IES, seeks to expand
the evidence base on the impact of CTE programs on student outcomes.

The Network is now accepting applications for its first Training
Institute, to be held August 17–21, 2020. The Training Institute will
be virtual.

This intensive Training Institute will build the capacity of
researchers to plan and conduct high-quality impact studies of CTE
programs, practices, and policies. Participants will learn from
experienced CTE researchers and experts in research methodology. Topics
will include CTE research exemplars, lectures on causal research
designs in the context of typical CTE programs, and data labs for
participants to apply the statistical concepts presented. A small class
size of 16 to 18 people will allow for interaction and relationship
building.

Application eligibility

To be eligible for the Training Institute, applicants must:

* Have a doctoral degree (PhD, EdD) or be enrolled in a doctoral
program
* Have some training in quantitative research methods (for
example, linear regression)
* Have experience using Stata and/or R for statistical analysis
* Have a demonstrated interest in CTE evaluation research
* Work in academia (faculty or graduate student) or at an
organization that conducts education research (for example, an applied
research organization or state agency)
* Be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident

There is no cost to attend the Training Institute. Accepted
participants will receive a $500 stipend upon successful completion of
the course.

Date: August 17–21, 2020
Location: Virtual
Application deadline: June 30, 2020

All applicants will be notified of placement by July 15.
