I have read the information previous supplied and found some useful tidbits/information.

This is to better explain what I am trying to accomplish

server alarm.home.org   <-- fetchmail        <-- 1...@example.org
Dovecot/SMTP                            <-- 2...@example.org
                                        <-- 3...@example.org
                                        <-- 4...@example.org
                        The fetchmail delivers all emails to
                        oldf...@home.arpa (dovecot on alarm.home.arpa)
                                          (smtp on alarm.home.arpa)
        ^
        |
        |
Thunderbird then reads the account oldf...@home.arpa (IMAP)

Reply to 3...@example.org --> www.twc.com smarthost
Reply to 1...@example.org --> www.twc.com smarthost
New message to arch-general@lists.archlinux.org from poc...@alarm.arpa

So SMTP needs to rewrite oldf...@home.arpa to 3...@example.org
                        use 3...@example.org credentials to www.twc.com
                        rewrite oldf...@home.arpa to 1...@example.org
                        use 1...@example.org credentials to www.twc.com
                        rewrite oldf...@home.arpa to poc...@example.org
                        use poc...@example.org credentials to www.twc.com

Dovecot to use PAM to validate user oldfart, Maildir on /srv/Mail/<user>
SMTP to use dovecot credentials

STARTTLS/TLS connection required to www.twc.com
No TLS/SSL required on the local network, but if it is required to do so then so be it.

Procedure:

        Step 1. create certs

        Step 2. install/configure dovecot

        Step 3. install/configure a SMTP daemon

I hope this makes this more clear of what I am trying to accomplish.

All help welcomne

Thanks for your help
