Thanks kirti for your reply, I have done all that and i have my widget running and working well, the matter is that i want to be able to let the user choose whether to add the widget to the screen or not. I want them to be able to press the icon of the app and use it without having to add the widget to the home screen. Although my selling point is the widget i dont want to restrict the usage of the app on the widget, if someone doesnt want another background service they will still be able to use it from Menu/All program/app icon...
