Why in the world the tutorial is having you hard-code a class instead of using a chooser is beyond me... The code from this tutorial would only ever work on a device with GMail installed... There are many devices out there without GMail, like the Kindle Fire for example...
What device are you testing this on? Does it have GMail installed?
