Interesting. I've done as you have suggested (although I'm using the OnKeyListener, the OP is using the editor action listener) and so far no issues. I need to test on a different device to be sure (the one that most frequently demonstrated this issue) and since it is an intermittent problem, I suppose it will take a bit of testing to make sure.
